1000 Seeds-SWFC_S-1000 $80.00 Out of stock

currently unavailable This seed was a win in a horticulture auction for me when I was visiting in New York many years ago in the Northern Nut Growers Association. I grew out a small plot of it here in Michigan where I selected from the most vigorous stalks and full ears. This is well known selection of white corn know for its delicious white meal plus it is easily grown in short season areas. Ripens in 80-90 days. I am currently reselecting it for uniform ripening in a short season. Because this selection is well known and used the goal is not to change it but to unify the population a bit as it was all over the map in terms of ripening at my farm. That was not bad necessarily it was just a bit of a problem harvesting and keeping the racoons out. The plants did produce such wonderful large and uniform ears it doesn't really need improvement. The flavor of this meal is amazing and certainly a standard in flint corns.

Plant Specs
Genus & Species Zea mays

Ease of Cultivation Drying was uniform and the large kernels came off the cobb easily. In the milk stage the flavor was not bad either and could be harvested as fresh corn. Reselected for a period of time for earlier ripening and uniform ears.
