Treeshelters

--------Increased Growth Due to Increased Carbon Dioxide and Water. --------Protection against animals from browsing, rubbing and girdling. Treeshelters help create a more uniform growing environment when transplanting young trees in their permanent location. With this method, small seedling trees are used which will grow in and then up and out of the shelter. The shelters are left on until the tree has enough caliper to stand on its own. And yes you can use a 3 inch tree in a 5 foot tube. That is what they were designed to do. After 3-6 years, they can be removed or left to photo-degrade once the trees have enough caliper to stand on their own. For animal protection the 2 and 3 foot sizes will work well with rabbits and the 4 and 5 foot will protect against deer. In some cases only 5 ft will work for deer. Do not lift or remove during winter. Not for use with evergreens. Stakes for Treeshelters: You will need to use sturdy hardwood stakes at least 1 ½” in width. Stakes should be at least one foot longer than the shelter so it can tolerate high winds and deer bowling. (Bucks can get a little aggressive in the fall.)
