Newsletter: February 3, 2018 The low tannin acorn is often produced with this hybrid. Its ability to have heavy yields of acorns attracts wildlife as well as people who enjoy making a-corn bread. With only small amounts of leaching needed: using hot water and a blender, the tannin can usually be removed with only 1-3 washings. Some selections are even edible right off the tree with little bitterness or astringency in the acorns. Our acorns come from my life long love of the oak tree.
