This Russian strain is seed produced and is much taller than the species growing up to 8 ft. It is used for bio-fuel production, windbreak and cover plant. The thick canes stand on their own creating a mass of foliage and stems. This plant runners like the Giant Miscanthus but not quite as dense. It does produce some viable seed although very little at our farm making it necessary for us to propagate from root cuttings. The rhizomes spread slowly from the main plant growing out from the center. The flowers are a silver like color along with the silver streaks within the blades make it a useful plant where few things can survive.
