Wild Oats

10 Plants in Pots, WIOA_10 $34.00
Ornamental Grass-Clump Forming-Seeds consumed by birds

Produces attractive seed heads that were once harvested and made into a meal. Perennial oatmeal plant? Not quite. The seeds do taste like oats but you need good back molars and a food mill to get the nutritional benefits as the seeds do not drop out of the husk.

For sowing your wild oats, plant in full sun or light shade. Can grow in a variety of soils. This a good bunch grass and would likely be able to take a mowing. The thick fibrous roots hold the soil well and even if it is browsed by deer, it quickly responds and regrows. The idea would be to use this plant in an orchard or planting where it would self seed in areas where few grasses can succeed. Our pots are multi-seeded and you can split them easily to get 2-3 plants.
