Northern Red Raspberry

Field Grown, 1-2' NRRA Pkg. of 3 plants $10.20 Out of stock
Rich Strong Flavor-Small Seeded-Highly Vigorous Canes

One of best flavored raspberries with tiny seeds and flavor much like the thimbleberry. Northern red raspberry is a small fruit with a big flavor. Each plant grows a cluster of 2-3  thornless canes that reach only 2-3 ft. tall. The canes live for 2 years before production ends and new ones take their place. This is a stoloniferous selection with no tip layering and is easy to propagate by root cuttings. We found our original plants near Paradise, Michigan as well as colonies on Lake Huron. We collected the seed and made a planting of roughly 50 plants from these seedlings at our farm. We are now using the largest fruiting selections at our farm. This species will grow in high mineral rock and sand and still be productive. It is best to plant this species in full sun. Our potted plants are grown from seed. The field grown plants are grown from root cuttings making up a mix of different seed strains. They can be shipped during the dormant seasons without leaves on them.
