Nutty #2 Groundnut

Nutty #2 Groundnut
Nutty #2 Groundnut

This selection (#2183) from the Dr. Blackmon breeding program from the southern U.S. is another outstanding selection of groundnuts producing uniform, high yielding delicious groundnuts.  To make your groundnut planting more successful, we suggest you use a top dressing of pellitized chicken manure 2-3 times during the growing season to really bolster the vines. Having the vines trellised also helps with increasing yields by providing a 'battery' of green photosynthetic cells all singing in unison!  In a more northern climate this variety of groundnut may take two years to really establish and yield like it does in the south. This means kind of creating a two year rotation with harvesting. Irrigation is a good idea if you have dry periods during the summer. Remember this is a plant that is found in wetlands or soils that remain moist during the summer.
