Bing Bur Oak
Productive spur-type fruiting bur oak crosses. Excellent drought tolerant selection producing thick leaves. Fairly sweet low tannin acorns drop free of the cap. The original Bing was a large acorn type like Maximus and a shy yielder. It was found as a chance seedling near the Rio Grande River. Breeder Miguel Marquez began crossing this variety to develop a higher yielding sweet acorn. Produces uniform seedlings which would be good for acorn production for wildlife and humans. Combines both Texas and Michigan types.
