This is the toughest species crab we grow that consistently produces clean fruit without spray. The flavor is very sharp with tannic overtones. Can be made into a jelly or sauce. No need for pectin. Plenty of need for sugar. Our Ecos selection is from a straight trunk form with a dense round crown. This is the highest yielding native apple we have ever found producing over 50 gallons of fruit on a medium sized tree. The original seed of this tree came from Pennsylvania and was selected from over 500 seedlings. It will often graft to regular apple as well. The leaves are not immune to rust but the fruit is immune to everything known including insects which is amazing for any apple.
