Fruitfull American Cranberrybush Seeds
This simple trait called ‘compacta’ is found in many types of trees and shrubs. We found this trait in a few plants of this Viburnum trilobum selection found in Michigan (about 1 in a 1000) where the shrubs produce fruits all along the branches as well as the tips. To germinate the seeds: Like other Viburnums sprouts in the fall. Needs one cold dormancy to start the process. Fall-cold moist 90-120 days, cold and moist, Summer -warm and moist. Seeds begin putting down roots, Fall-Roots are all the way down now. Spring again-Tops emerge. Life has just begun. Plant ¼ inch deep. This selection always has solid seeds.
