Pot, 18-24" WHMA_18-24 $18.20

Whitebeam mountain ash is one of the few mountain ashes that can grow and fruit prolifically in the Midwest and Northeastern U.S.. Unlike the American and European mountain ashes, whitebeam has no foliar diseases and the trees are much longer lived. The fruit production is very heavy with this species and the flavor is like a strong candy like flavor of cherry and sweet tarts.

Often the mountain ashes were used historically as a source of vitamin C for much of the northern temperate climates. The berries were consumed dry or mixed with other fruit based dishes to mellow the flavor. Like Aronia, both the medicinal qualities of the berries as well as the nutrition kept it as a wild collected crop over the centuries. Today this plant can grow in a wide variety of landscapes and even as a species much like wild blueberry, it is a highly worthwhile tree to grow.

We offer 3 year plants grown in bottomless pots. Trees will grow rapidly once transplanted.
