One Seed Per Fruit-Low seeded American Persimmon-Early Ripening-Michigan Selection-Small fruit-One inch sized.

Nearly a seed free (one seed per fruit) selection of American persimmon. Ripens at our farm starting in mid September and goes through mid October. Fruits ripen to a solid orange with a creamy texture almost completely free of seeds. Some years they are completely free of seeds. Tree is a heavy bearing and drops evenly over a three week period. Always has no astringency and is completely smooth in texture. One of the seedlings I found early on when we collected the fruit realizing the seed production part of it was very low. Since then I have noticed new research pointing to the low seeding fruits are capable of producing fully seedless fruits and are worth growing just for that reason. It was one of ways Kaki persimmons were developed to the point seeded Kaki persimmmons are difficult to find. This tree has been completely seedless a few times but normally it has one seed. It may be due to the pollination from the surrounding trees. One year the tree's yield broke several branches but normally it is a consistent bearer and one of the heaviest on the farm. The ripening is very uniform and drops most of its fruit in early to mid October. It is fully non-astrigent when ripened. Much earlier than the Early Golden variety.

Scionwood is available starting in the winter of 2025-26 season fully dormant. More details will be put here on this product on the cost at that time. It will be a separate product listed with the seeds.

To Germinate the Seeds: Seeds require a cold moist dormancy of 33F to 38F for 90 to 120 days. A lightly moist Canadian peat moss refrigerated is good. Seeds rarely rot in storage. Take out of cold and seeds will begin to sprout in 7-21 days. The roots are jet black. Plant one inch deep. Few if any rodents eat the persimmon seeds. (At least from my experience.) Fall planted seeds work very well even if direct seeded in untended soils. Bare soil is ideal to direct seed in.

Soil	Sandy loam, clay loam and other soils. Adaptable.
Climate	Zone 5-9. Requires good fall heat to ripen fully going farther north. The trees grow fine but the fruit does not ripen in northern Michigan. The season is too short but the trees will not be damaged by winter.
Ease of Cultivation	One of the best to use for creating seedless fruits that ripen very early far earlier than all other selections. Easy to grow from seed. A good variety to graft as well as cultivate despite its small fruit size. No seeded or low seeded fruit are easier to process than heavily seeded fruit. Some seeds are very high priced in the persimmon market. These are a fraction of the cost of the 'fancy' seeds that people sell in the name of breeding. Everyone wants a race horse.
