Wild Texas Cherry Tomato Seeds

currently unavailable This tomato was found as a chance population in Texas that has the ability to self reproduce from seed under adverse conditions. When I grew it, I found it persistent enough that three years after cultivating it, it was still hanging out under our oak trees. The small 1 inch fruits do not crack which is a plus especially for cherry tomatoes. The plant has long stems up to 10 feet long with thick bulbous type joints that aid the plant in fighting drought by increasing rooting as the plants creep along the ground when the joints touch the ground. I have grown other wild tomatoes and essentially any tomato could be called wild if it accidently self seeds. This one appears to consistently do this and is truly a feral population. Wild Texas is high yielding. 65-70 days

This species would be a good addition to wildflower seed mixes as an edible plant. Its ability to colonize at least initially would make it a great pleasure to not only to enjoy the flowers but also to taste the fruits of a newly seeded wildflower meadow.
