Chestnut Trees-Dropping Nuts From Great Altitudes

February 15, 2019

The above image shows a young fawn going back and forth from a protected cove on the neighbors property filled with lush vegetation to our rather open property on a hillside planted with hybrid oaks and chestnuts.  Even the turkeys like this area.  When we started planting chestnuts we never knew how long it would take to establish our forest of chestnuts. During this time, we saw the chestnuts grow and fail until finally we finally gave up. That is when the orchard did the best and we began using new planting methods and new seed strains. This newsletter contains many of these same strains that outproduce as well as able to withstand insect pests and disease pressure. Enjoy our newsletter for this mid February:  OIKOSTREECROPS NEWSLETTER
