Ken Asmus, owner of Oiko Tree Crops in Van Buren County, located 3 miles East of Lawton, checks on a small sweet fruit crop called American Persimon, grown on his 13-acre nursery on Sunday, October 31, 2004. Asmus, 50, originally a WMU biology major, and in business for 20 years, runs a mail-order nursery specializing in hardy nut trees.
